The iOS version of WhatsApp has just received a significant update that brings it in line with the same design changes that arrived in iOS 7. We’ve taken this update as an opportunity to make a comparison between the iOS and Android WhatsApp versions and to see which one looks better.
The iOS and Android version of WhatsApp are built pretty similar. On the far left, the profile picture of your chat partner is displayed along with contact name and the date of last message. Under the name is a short excerpt from that last chat message received in that conversation.
The major changes between the chat overview lies in the design and visible elements. While the iOS version looks much more sterile due to the choice of color elements, options such as contacts and settings can be accessed right away from the lower navigation bar. With Android, these are hidden behind the menu in the action bar.
Again, there are only minor differences between the chat windows. The actual chat looks relatively identical and only the representation of icons and speech bubbles vary slightly. The button to attach files has been moved down to the text bar in iOS while that’s the area where the emoticon symbol is at for Android.
WhatsApp in iOS has grouped contact alphabetically and is easy to manage for direct access, enabling you to jump right to a certain letter when looking for a contact. For Android, WhatsApp doesn’t offer this option unfortunately and all the contact appears one after another, which at times can be a little overwhelming.
Whether in Android or iOS, there is no interactive button that allows you to reply directly to messages outside the app. Taping on the notification itself merely results in the app firing up and being able to reply from within WhatsApp. Android does have a small advantage here though, as it provides a little bit more information provided when in the notification bar.
The iOS version of WhatsApp has it’s setting grouped based on type and allows a little bit more intuitive navigation to the settings of your choice. However, the Android version has small icons to the left of the settings that allow a quick visual representation of what you’re looking for.
Virtually, the iOS version of WhatsApp has been given a new look based on the design choices behind the latest iOS 7 version. The Android version of the popular messaging app is based loosely on prevailing design guidelines that are found around the Android app atmosphere, however, this could be polished quite a bit from what we have right now. Fortunately, there are a numerous amount of fan mockups of a redesigned WhatsApp that are more appealing to the eye, including this one by Nadav Fima. Hopefully the WhatsApp designers will take note when they do the next Android overhaul of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp MessengerAside from iMessage and Kik, WhatsApp is one of the most popular third-party messaging applications available for both iOS and Android devices. This instant messaging app makes it possible to send text messages, attachments, and audio files, without having to worry about network fees – the app is popularly used as a cross-platform messaging app. Just like iMessage, users are frequently sending sentimental messages or photos on WhatsApp and as a result, knowing how to WhatsApp backup and restore is important.
Some people use WhatsApp for business; others use it for personal usage – regardless of why you use WhatsApp and how important the messages are, you should take the time to back up your messages and attachments frequently. Using iCloud is the most common way that iPhone users learn WhatsApp backup and restore as it has been integrated into the application, making it very convenient to use. If you don't already know how to use this WhatsApp feature, follow the steps below.

Step #4 – After a few minutes, your WhatsApp data will be uploaded to iCloud and can be restored at any moment.
The problem with using WhatsApp's iCloud feature is that it requires a stable internet connection. If you don't have strong enough Wi-Fi or possible don't even have access to a Wi-Fi connection, this isn't an option that you have.
Another option that you have is to WhatsApp backup and restore using dr.fone – iOS Backup & Restore; one of the best alternatives to iTunes and iCloud that there is. Step #6 – Lastly, after the backup has been taken and Dr.Fone has completed the process, click on “View It” and you'll be able to see the messages and attachments that were backed up.

Similarly, we are going to be focussing the following section on how to WhatsApp backup for Android devices. The two methods below are similar to the iOS methods, although are simply adjusted.
What many people aren't aware of is that even though there isn't an Android equivalent of iTunes, it's just as easy to take and restore backups of your data. While it may seem difficult at first, especially considering that Android is open-source and provides a lot more flexibility than the iOS platform does, there are just as many options available for backing up your data, like Samsung Galaxy S8 Backup.
A lot of Android users will choose to use their Google Drive account for a WhatsApp backup, and that's the first solution that we're going to look at.

Step #4 – For those of you who are connected to a Wi-Fi connection, this should only take a few minutes. If you are using your mobile data then it will take significantly longer – once the data has been backed up, you're done.
The main problem with using this method Is that your data will take a significant amount of time to upload your data to Google Drive. To help you decide if this is the method for you, below we have assembled a list of pros and cons.

Step #1 – Start by connecting your Android phone using the appropriate USB cable and launching Dr.Fone – Recover.
Step #2 – From the main menu, click on the “Recover” feature and then on “Recover Phone Data” from the left menu.
Step #3 – You'll now be prompted to enable USB Debugging mode on your Android device – simply grant the requested permissions that are requested on your device's screen.
Step #4 – Next, you'll be given a choice to select the types of data that you want to scan for. Check the box next to “WhatsApp Messages & Attachments“, then click “Next“.
