Warriors Orochi 3 (commonly known as 無双OROCHI 2 or Musou OROCHI 2 in Japan), is a 2011 hack and slash video game developed by Tecmo Koei and Omega Force for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This is the fourth installment of the crossover series Warriors Orochi - the combination of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series - and serves as a sequel to Warriors Orochi 2.
The game was released in Japan on December 22, 2011, in Europe on April 6, 2012, and North America on March 20, 2012 (PlayStation 3) and March 27, 2012 (Xbox 360). It was later re-released onto the PSP in Japan only on July 19, 2012, then released again along side the release of the Wii U world wide.
Set several years after the events of Warriors Orochi 2, with a decisive battle against a multi-headed serpent known as the Hydra. the Hydra, as well as the re-appearance of Kiyomori, has once again thrust the once peaceful world back into chaos. Many warriors are killed, and the serpent appears to be unbeatable. However, the Moon Princess Kaguya appears and uses the power of time travel to send back the last remaining generals - Hanbei Takenaka, Sima Zhao and Ma Chao - to the past to save their fallen comrades.
The main focus of this title is the complete eradication of Orochi's forces. Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors characters are also given the choice to return to their time lines.
Characters from other Tecmo Koei franchises appeared in this title as playable guest characters, or 'Collaboration Characters.' Two of these characters included Ryu Hayabusa, who was representing his original series Ninja Gaiden, and Ayane representing Dead or Alive (although her physical appearance and fighting style are based on how she is in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2). Other Collaboration Characters include Joan of Arc from Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War,, Achilles from Warriors: Legends of Troy, and Nemea from Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll.
Other Dead or Alive elements have been used in Warriors Orochi 3 as well. The timeline that Ayane is taken from in the events of Warriors Orochi 3, into the alternate dimension created by the demon Orochi, is from after the events of Dead or Alive 4 and the fourth Dead or Alive World Combat Championship and sections of the Seaside Paradise stage from said game can be seen as parts of the battlefield during the Battle of Hasedō. Fairy tail episode 176 kissanime. Ayane's musical theme is a remix of her Dead or Alive 2 theme, Tehu Tehu.
In the WiiU port of the game, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, a new mode called Duel Mode was included. Players taking to an arena and fighting each other in teams of 3 vs 3, with special ability cards to perform special attacks. In the PS3 and PSVita re-release, Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate, a new stage based off the D.W.A. Coliseum is included for this mode. It also serves as Kasumi's cross over stage during normal game play, merged with the historical battle of Yan Province. Kasumi's theme song in Ultimate is a remix of her theme Hitohira.
Those who purchased first-print versions of Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate received a downloadable serial code for Warriors Orochi inspired costumes for the following characters in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate:
These costumes were later made available for purchase.
PSP release for Japan only. Includes two new characters Rachel from the Ninja Gaiden series, as well as Seimei Abe from Japanese lore. This also comes with a special stage and theme for Rachel, and new theme for Seimei Abe.

Warriors Orochi 3 is an upcoming re-release and technically 3rd sequel to the cross over hack and slash title, Warriors Orochi 3 with the project being overseen by the original director Akihiro Suzuki (director, lead programmer and producer of the critically acclaimed hack and slash series, Dynasty Warriors).
The title is developed by Omega Force (a development team from within Koei) whilst the game is being published by Koei, the same team behind Nintendo’s Hyrule Warriors game. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate will be primarily available on Sony consoles, launching on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The title will also be launching on Xbox One, but not Xbox 360.
It will launch on PS3/PSVita: Jap September 26 2013, US September 2 2014, EU & AUS September 5 2014. PS4: Jap June 26 2014, US September 2 2014, EU & AUS September 5 2014. Xbox One: US September 2 2014, EU & AUS September 5 2014.
Given the nature of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, meaning it’s effectively an upgrade, the development cycle focused on changes and new inclusions rather than the development of a new game. Beneath, you can find a list detailing some of these tweaks.
Character performance has been tweaked to alter gameplay by influencing how the play when compared to Warriors Orochi 2.
The level cap has been raised to 100. One level higher than the previous 99.
Character level progression is partly influenced by weapon enhancements, this means that any character which has reached the lofty level cap can still be customised a little by switching these enhancements out.
Reaching the level cap will allow you to “reset” your character for a permanent buff to your characters stats. This could originally only be done three times, but has since been patched to allow for nine resets.
Player characters all receive a second personal skill, these buffs contribute to the overall stats and performance of the players team.
The player can choose to field their entire team and throw them into battle by pressing the Down button.
Players can select which side they play on during Free Mode, this includes the option to play on opposing teams.
Triple Ruse (a stronger version of the Switch Combo attacks) will launch enemies upward for more combos, Triple Ruse also allows easier attack cancelling.
Triple Rush can be combined with up to 50 different combinations for character specific attacks.
“Midair Tie Up Action” is a new aerial attack, it will drain the Musou gauge. How the attack is executed depends on the characters power, speed, technique and wonder.
Two players can perform their individual teams Musou attacks to have all six characters perform a special attack called Shin Musou Burst.
Borrowing from Dynasty Warriors 8, Horse Whistling (which summons your mount) is available by pressing Up.
Rather than carrying two items into the field, players can carry six. Upon reaching level 100 an extra two slots are unlocked.
The array of items in the game has been expanded with new inclusions.
Similar to Warriors Orochi 3, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate eschews the stylings of the previous games by having the games story mode split into a clearly defined storyline that takes place over 4 chapters and multiple battlefields.
4 new chapters have been included in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. These chapters carry the player across two story arcs. They are:
The Tale of the Latter Day.
The Tale of the Former Day.
The clear inspiration for the Warriors Orochi titles has always been Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate borrows very heavily from Dynasty Warriors 7. Anyone familiar with the hack and slash combat that is found in Dynasty Warriors will instantly slide into place whilst playing Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate.
Town features that allow players to converse with the characters in that area and purchase weapons from the store carry over, as does the AI of the enemy, the missing morale gauge, the ability to swim and the ability to climb.
Gameplay mechanics that first showed up in Warriors Orochi 2 return, this includes thing slike the triple attack and switch attack functions.
A new gameplay mode, Gauntlet Mode, which focuses on a 5 man team has been introduced. The goal is to make it out of a mutli tiered dungeon that scales in difficulty. Players can only save once a dungeon level has been cleared. A co-op mode gives two players control of a character of their choice within the team, they can however switch between characters by pressing Up. Any other characters on the team are controlled by AI.
The following characters have been added to Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate:
